Hello

I have always had a passion for hair since I was an adolescent. I  still remember when I was around the age of 7 years old, I would get in trouble because I could never keep my hands out of my hair. During my senior year of high school, I acquired my cosmologist license and competed in Skills USA for South Carolina Low County Vocational Cosmetologist students in 2007 and won first place. I started braiding hair between age 9 - 12 years old and by High School , I was running what felt like a mini-salon from my parents house. Throughout the years, I mainly worked from home and even styled hair in my college dormitory specializing in sew-ins and braiding hair. Eventually, I acquired my SC braiders license  because I knew that braiding hair was my true calling. I also opened a salon at one point  but later purchase a home with enough space to create a small salon suite within it.  I always knew doing hair was my God-given talent.

Clients often asked me "which brand of hair I should purchase from the beauty supply store and if the quality of hair was good". After sending so many clients to the beauty supply store from doing sew-ins, it motivated me to build Hair by Mel's. I started testing multiple vendors' quality of hair. I used different hair care products to determine which products would get the most longevity out of Hair by Mels Hair extensions and I wore my hair to determine how long each type of hair would last. After wearing my hair for a while, I knew it was time to launch my brand to clients, on social media, with family, and friends.

In 2023, I experienced a traumatic event that temporarily stopped me from working in the hair industry.  I suffered a dislocated ankle, fractured and broken bone due to domestic violence. During one of the most humbling seasons of my life, while on Short Term Disability and relearning how to walk again, I encountered a women of God who prophesied to me and said that "I would one day have a very sucessful hair oil business".

 I initially questioned what she said, but a few days later, I realized that I had already developed a hair oil formula back in 2013, which I had completely forgotten about . While healing, I began working on the vision because the formula was already there. In 2024,  with crazy faith, I cut all my hair and used Hair by Mel's Oil as a regrowth treatment to healthier hair. I am destined to take Hair by Mel's to new heights and exceed all expectations , it can only get better from here !!!
